The National Pickleball League today announced a brand new, revolutionary format for NPL Season 1 – named NPLeague – a format exclusive to the National Pickleball League.

NPLeague aims to showcase the best professional Pickleball players in Australia by combining the best aspects of the singles & doubles disciplines in Pickleball.

In the new format, NPL teams will consist of 6 players – 3 males and 3 females, who will all be required to play in each match. Each match will consist of 4 sets + 1 potential tiebreaker – known as the Dill Breaker. Each set is worth 1 point individually.

1st Set = Female Singles

• Best of 3 Games – 3 Individual Players

• First to 11, Traditional Pickleball Scoring, Win by 2

2nd Set = Mixed Doubles

• 2 Mixed Doubles Pairs per Team

• Pair 1 = First to 11

• Pair 2 = Continue to 22 (Pair 2 will sub in once either team reaches 11) 

• First to 22, Traditional Pickleball Scoring, Win by 2

3rd Set = Male Singles

• Same format as Female singles

4th Set = Gender Doubles 

• 2 Gender Doubles Pairs per Team

• Female Pair 1 = First to 11

• Male Pair 2 = Continue to 22 (Pair 2 will sub in once either team reaches 11) 

• First to 22, Traditional Pickleball Scoring, Win by 2

Dill Breaker (as required)

• First to 21 (as a team), Win by 2, Rally Scoring 

• Each pair or single will paly 5 points until the game is complete 

• Womens Doubles #1

• Mens Doubles #1

• Womens Doubles #2

• Mens Doubles #2

• Womens Singles #1

• Mens Singles #1

• Womens Singles #2

• Mens Singles #2

About NPL Season 1

NPL – Season 1 is the first ever professional teams Pickleball league in Australia, launching in March 2024 with $100,000 of Prize Money.   Team captains will be selected from Victoria, New South Wales & Queensland and they will participate in a virtual team draft, selecting 3 males and 3 females per team. Prize money will be split between the top 8 teams, with the winner taking home $50,000 Cash.
