    DUPR ratings explained

Reviewed by the NPL Professional Pathways team · Updated

DUPR is the rating system most Australian players use to find their level, join the right sessions and enter the right tournament divisions. Every NPL match is DUPR-rated, and NPL has a three-year partnership with DUPR.

    What is DUPR?

DUPR (the Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) gives every player a rating based on their match results. New players start as NR (not rated), and ratings run on a scale from 2.000 to 8.000.

Singles and doubles are rated separately

You have separate ratings for singles and doubles, and DUPR also tracks gender and mixed doubles separately. In doubles, your team's rating is the average of the two players' ratings.

    How your rating moves

Before each match, DUPR works out an expected result from everyone's ratings. Beat that expectation and your rating goes up; fall short and it goes down. Recent matches count more, and verified club, league and tournament matches count more than self-posted ones.

    What the reliability score means

Next to your rating is a reliability score from 1 to 100%. It shows how confident DUPR is that your rating reflects your current level. Play and log matches regularly and it goes up.

    DUPR and the NPL

DUPR is the official rating system of Pickleball Australia, and every NPL match is DUPR-rated. That includes the ahm NPL Pro Tour and Division 2, so a result against an NPL player counts like any other verified match.

How to get a DUPR rating

Create a free account at dupr.com or in the DUPR app, then play verified matches: club sessions, leagues and tournaments that submit results to DUPR. Many venues in the NPL city guides run DUPR-rated sessions.
