Inside the Early Access Unveiling of The Jar, Maidstone

Melbourne’s racquet sports landscape is entering a defining new phase with the arrival of The Jar’s second location in Maidstone. In this city, sport is more than a passion. It's part of our collective identity, embedded in our culture, our history and in our social rituals. Now, the inner west is about to become the epicentre of this evolving culture. 

With the official announcement of Early Access to the second location in Maidstone, The Jar is doing more than expanding. It represents a deliberate evolution—one that responds to the rapid rise of racquet sports while reshaping how they are experienced. Not simply another venue, The Jar Maidstone is a design-led, landmark destination built to meet, and shape, the fastest growing sport in Australia. If the flagship venue, The Jar South Melbourne was the blueprint, the second location- The Jar Maidstone is the most ambitious expression yet.  

Expanding from four pickleball courts in South Melbourne, The Jar HQ in Maidstone will feature nine premium pickleball courts and six padel courts. The world-class infrastructure will accompany a social and lifestyle precinct, including a bar, a reception and indoor and outdoor hospitality spaces. While the full version of The Jar Maidstone will be unveiled in 2027, the strategy is intentional- early access to the community while The Jar Maidstone takes shape around them.

This means that The Jar Maidstone will be open from June 2026, for Early Access Pickleball, followed by Early Access Padel later this year.  By inviting the community to play right now through the early access, we get to shape the future of the sport and the evolving community around it.

To me, sport is synonymous with community, connection and belonging. It’s where lifelong friendships are forged, and tight-knit communities are anchored. The Jar Maidstone team understands this implicitly. Their foundational ethos is simple yet revolutionary: the community comes first, the game comes second. By letting the community have Early Access, we get to build the culture, the social fabric, from day one.

The Rollout Schedule

Phase 1: June 2026 | Early Access Pickleball
Members and players get immediate, first-look access to nine world-class pickleball courts. The venue is opening soon, serving up a high-energy vibe from day one. You can start booking the courts now. 

Phase 2: September 2026 | Early Access Padel
The next chapter unfolds with the opening of six premium padel courts. 

Phase 3: 2027 | The Grand Vision
The full, premium racquet club experience will be realised. Expect a stunning architectural front bar, curated social areas, and a dedicated hospitality space designed for winding down.
