We've been building to this. Round 4 of the 2026 ahm NPL season isn't a regular round weekend. It's not a one-day event. It's not business as usual.

🏆 EVENT ONE: NPL MID-SEASON TEAMS CUP 12 Teams. NPLeague Format. $20,000 Prize Pool.

The centrepiece of the weekend. All 12 NPL teams go head-to-head in a standalone cup competition — separate from the main season ladder, with its own $20,000 prize pool entirely independent of the regular season prize money.

This isn't a dead rubber. This isn't an exhibition. This is a legitimate competition with serious money on the line and serious bragging rights to match.

Teams Cup seedings are determined by NPL season performance through Rounds 1–3, which means every single match played so far this season has had a direct impact on where teams sit heading into this weekend. The teams that have shown up, competed hard, and climbed the ladder will be rewarded with favourable seedings. The ones who haven't will have a harder road.

The format follows the NPLeague structure our teams know well — but with the pressure dialled up to a completely different level. No conference points. No ladder implications. Just pure cup competition, with $20,000 waiting at the end of it.

🎯 EVENT TWO: INDIVIDUAL / OPEN TOURNAMENT Open Entry. Singles & Doubles. NPL Pros vs The Public.

This is the one that opens the festival up to everyone.

The Individual / Open Tournament runs concurrently across the weekend and is exactly what it sounds like — open entry for NPL professionals AND the general public across both singles and doubles draws. If you can hold a paddle, you can register. And you'll be competing on the same courts, in the same venue, on the same weekend as Australia's best professional pickleball players.

For club players and competitive amateurs, this is genuinely one of the most unique opportunities the NPL has created. The gap between professional sport and public participation is usually enormous. This weekend, that gap closes.

But here's where it gets even more interesting — performance in the Individual / Open Tournament isn't just about winning your draw. It feeds directly into something bigger. Your results here contribute to State of Origin squad selection. Which means every match matters. Every point matters. Show up and perform, and you might just find yourself representing your state before the weekend is out.

If you grew up watching State of Origin in any sport, you already know what this means.

Four squads. Four regions. One representative team event that caps off the entire festival weekend with something that hits completely differently to regular competition.

VIC. NSW. QLD. ALLIES. Going head-to-head for state pride and bragging rights in Australia's first ever professional pickleball State of Origin Showcase.

And the way Origin squads are selected is what makes the whole weekend interconnected in a way that's genuinely brilliant. Selection isn't predetermined. It isn't based on historical performance or reputation. It's earned — in real time — through performance across the Teams Cup and Individual / Open Tournament during the festival itself.

Squad lock happens Saturday night, after the Teams Cup Swiss Round 4 and the Individual / Open semi-finals. Once squads are locked, they're locked — Sunday results don't change Origin squads. Which means Saturday is everything. Saturday is when you put your hand up, perform on the court, and make the case that you deserve to represent your state.

This is the event within the event. It's the storyline that runs across the entire weekend. And it's going to be electric. ⚡
