Round 3 Recap - ahm NPL ‘26 

Round 3 of the ahm NPL 2026 season brought the top-tier leaderboard into sharp focus. Across the Pro Division, the gap widened in NSW, flipped in QLD, and refused to settle in VIC. In Division 2, the leaders either consolidated or, in NZ’s case, started to run away entirely. With the Mid-Season Finals looming, the intensity has reached a boiling point.

Pro Division

NSW Pro · Heat break the pack

 The Heat put together a clean round, going 2-0 with dominant 4-1 victories over both the Stingers and the Comets. Captain Turulja’s squad welcomed back NPL Academy product Ashton, who returned with immediate impact. Ashton's return might have just ended the title race before MSF even begins. Anchored by flawless 4-0 MVP performances from Joshua Chia and Shannon Spencer, the Heat look virtually untouchable. 

On the other side, the illusion was shattered for Henry & Stoker. Their unbeaten run in gendered and singles came to a halt, suffering stinging defeats to Chia/Chan and Tanabe/Tran on the same day. The Comets, who won the Round 2 race, completely collapsed to a 0-2 weekend. They'll need to completely reset mentally before MSF.

VIC Pro · Total Gridlock as the Roos Recover

Every team went 1-1. That tells you everything. The Tide managed to cling to the top spot at 4-2, but the Roos’ gritty 3-2 upset over them might just end up being the most important result of the entire round. Powered by a clinical 4-0 masterclass from Ethan Chung, the Roos proved they can disrupt anyone's rhythm. Right behind the leaders, the Adders and Roos sit deadlocked at 3-3, and even the 29ers at 2-4 are far from out of the conversation.

Ayesha Dang and Memory Lelenoa are operating on another level with a flawless 6-0 record. Dang's rhythm vanishing between rounds is a pattern, not a blip. MSF will be the real test of character. But right now, the data says Dang & Lelenoa are the best gendered doubles pairing in the entire competition. Meanwhile, Izzy is building momentum quietly- her elite court reads and precise control are becoming downright dangerous.

QLD Pro · Outback Retake Top as Reef Free-Falls

The QLD Pro leaderboard completely flipped. The Reef entered Round 2 at the top, but suffered a catastrophic 0-2 free-fall in Round 3. Robertshawe and Cross looked slow, reactive, and rattled, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Opals and a 2-3 shocker to the Brumbies. If they can't bounce back immediately at MSF, the Reef's season is effectively over.

This cleared the path for Outback to surge back to the top. Going 2-0 with gritty 3-2 wins over both the Brumbies and Opals, Harry and co. proved they have depth with sub Josh Barber looking completely at home at this level.

The Brumbies refused to die, staying just three points out of second after their gutsy win over the Reef. Captain Andy keeps finding ways to win, and Aleisha Horridge's big-moment showing proved she is criminally underrated. Still, the individual crown belongs to Nicola, who captured an unprecedented third consecutive MVP.

Division 2 Recap

VIC D2 · Roos create separation

Round 2 ended with the Roos and 29ers locked at three wins apiece, but Round 3 provided definition. The Roos pulled clear into sole first place with a flawless 2-0 round, executing a 3-2 win over the Sharks and a 4-1 dismantling of the Rangers, driven by an unplayable performance from MVP Gaigher. Gaigher is becoming unplayable and the consistency is now undeniable.

 29ers and Adders sit at 4-2, but Round 3 showed the difference- Roos win clean, others split. Rangers finally show signs of life with Liam Lamb back, which raises an uncomfortable question: how different does this table look if he plays earlier?

NSW D2 · Comets hold, Aggies explode

 Comets did exactly what top teams do-  they backed it up. 2-0, now 5-1, with Monique Burton dropping a perfect 6-0.

 But the story of the round is Aggies. From last place at 1-3 to a 2-0 surge, now sitting mid-table at 3-3. Takara Inukai (5-0) led the charge and suddenly this team looks like a problem, not a footnote.

The rest of the conference is compressed-  four teams within a single win.

QLD D2 · Complete Chaos with no leader

 Queensland Division 2 is close, unpredictable and chaotic with just four points separating the five teams. 

The Burras had a massive 2-0 round, handing Outback a 3-2 loss and blowing past the Reef 4-1, powered by a spectacular 2-0 captain's performance from Grace Sorbello. Outback managed to salvage their weekend by going 2-1 overall, with Thanh digging incredibly deep in a nail-biting 3-2 mixed-breaker victory to deny the winless Brumbies an upset. The standings now feature a massive three-way logjam at the top, while the Brumbies remain the league's only winless team at 0-6.

NZ D2 · Tuatara & Taika Play a Different Sport

 The Tuatara remain the undisputed gold standard of the ahm NPL 2026 season—the league's only perfect team. They moved to 6-0 via back-to-back 5-0 demolitions of Kōura and Moa, leaving them with an astronomical +171 cumulative points difference.

 Not far behind are Taika, who mirrored those results with two 5-0 sweeps of their own against Kauri and Taniwha. Their only loss this season remains their tight Round 2 battle with Tuatara. In a rare feat, teammates Ela and Semisi both took MVP honors in the same round for their sheer dominance. The real question is whether they can compete when the stakes are higher at the crossover events. Lower down the ladder, Kauri finally broke their duck, securing their first win of the season over the young Kōura squad.

Everything now pushes toward a massive Round 4. It’s not just about whose good- but who can hold it.
